Spring PDA is here!

Southside Soccer Club invites you to the U9 - U10 Spring Team Tryouts. These tryouts will take place at Tigard High School Stadium Turf Field from 4:30pm – 6:00pm February 13^th. If you have a current 3rd grader or 4th grader interested in participating in Southside Soccer’s Developmental Soccer Player Academy please join us.

If for some reason you are not able to attend tryouts, please contact Britta Knapman at brittamk@gmail.com.

The Southside Soccer Academy was started to introduce both U-9 and U-10 boys and girls to our competitive program and coaches. The Academy provides a wonderful opportunity to receive coaching from our competitive coaching staff and the chance to improve their already above-average skills.

In addition to year-round training, the Southside Academy players will play on Sundays in the U9/U10 Fall League (3^rd and 4^th graders typically), replacing their participation in the Saturday Recreational League. During the Sunday League games, the coaches will focus on teaching the building blocks of the game in an enriching yet challenging environment.

Southside Soccer Club is committed to providing opportunities for our members through programs that reach into our various groups and meet their specific needs. We have great facilities, an experienced staff and a first class curriculum. Our effort toward developing exceptional individual skill combined with basic tactics, within an environment that encourages taking risks in order to learn, will instill the love of the game and give the motivated player the tools to excel!

2009-2010 PDA Academy Details – Team Player

Southside offers a year-long opportunity for U9-U10 soccer players to improve upon individual soccer skills and techniques through quality coaching and organized play. Dynamic, game oriented training for the above-average soccer player. The Academy Program is designed to benefit the young player who is motivated to further develop his or her natural talent and abilities through an enriching, fun and challenging environment.

Teams will be open to U9 and U10 players with the appropriate level of playing ability to enjoy and benefit from the experience. This determination will be made by Southside’s Academy Director, Kibwe Cuffie. At all times, the best interest of the player will be the prime determining factor.
Southside will have teams for each gender; subject to the number of registrants.
Teams will be formed by Southside’s Academy Director “primarily, but not strictly” based on a player’s ability and developmental needs.
Teams will be coached by dedicated coaches.
Season fees include all scheduled coaching, practices and league fees (see fee structure). Summer tournament entry fees are not included.
Players may be shifted from roster to roster during the season based on developmental needs.
Players may be added to a team during the course of a season at the sole discretion of the Academy Director.

UNIFORMS: All players must purchase the Southside recreational Nike uniform if they currently do not have one. Each uniform costs $50 and consists of a blue jersey (home games), a white jersey (away games), blue shorts and blue socks. Only Southside Soccer Uniforms will be allowed. *PLAYERS SHOULD BRING BOTH JERSEYS TO ALL GAMES

It is recommended that all new participants interested in the academy should make contact with Academy Director prior to signing up. This will enable the director to decide in conjunction with you, the parent, if this program is the right fit for your child.

The Player Development Academy is open to all third and fourth grade soccer players that have the interest in taking their skills to the next level.

Time to Register for Spring Indoor

Registration is now open for our recreational indoor soccer program. This program is open to all kindergarten through 12^th grade soccer players living in the State of Oregon. The cost for the season is $75 which includes 2 practice (games) and as many as 14 regular season games. Below are links to the registration form and information on the program. In-person registrations will occur at our club office, 16285 SW 85^th Avenue, #401 in January. We are located in the Durham Hall Business Park next to Tigard High School, just south of Durham Road. We will be accepting in-person registrations during the hours indicated. You will also be able to obtain the team t-shirts and purchase shorts or sox that match the jerseys.

Spring Break Camp

Camp Details:

Monday, March 22^nd to Thursday, March 25^th

Open to students in 2^nd – 8^th grade
Sessions are from 9am – 12pm @ TiHS Soccer Turf
The cost is $100 per participant

Schedule – Daily Breakdown

1. Check-in; Introduction and Morning soccer presentation

2. Demonstration of the Skill of the Day

3. Campers will be divided by age/ability and will be placed with a soccer coach

Mission statement
Our spring break camp is designed to give the young soccer player the training and confidence to take their game to a higher level.

Curriculum
The camp will include lots of fun sessions to teach passing, juggling, dribbling and other basic soccer skills. We believe that the foundation for all developing soccer players is sound, fundamental technical ability. We believe all players should be taught how to apply technique and how to practice by coaches who can properly demonstrate soccer skills.

World Cup Games and small sided game drills will allow players to practice and improve the skills learned earlier in the day. Coaches will watch for “teachable moments” that pertain to the skills taught during the training sessions.

Speed and agility
The Speed & Agility sessions will put an emphasis on developing speed and agility while handling the ball. Getting to the ball first is an important key element in soccer. We will focus on soccer specific movements and coordination. The proper mechanics of sprinting will increase speed, power and even prevent injuries.
